What does the maintenance staff do all winter?

 Contrary to popular opinion, the maintenance team at Sycamore Ridge doesn't just take the winter months off.  We use this slower time on the course to accomplish things that we don't have time to do during the rest of the year.  Equipment is inspected and prepared for the upcoming season.  Golf course accessories are repaired, re-painted, and fabricated.  Trees are removed, and brush is cleared for safety, playability, and turf health. 

We have replaced the stairs on hole number three.

Trees have been removed and brush cleared, allowing for more air movement, additional light penetration, and reduce competition for ground water from the tree roots.

In February, we will start working on the forward tee on hole four.  This tee will be made larger to accommodate both the yellow and green tee markers.  

These are just a few of the visible things we do during the winter.  There are many other things that happen that most golfers will probably never know about.
